A Greek's Gift, also known as Trojan Bunny, is an episode for the Monica and Friends TV franchise. Based on Presente de Grego (Gift from a Greek), it parodies the story of the Trojan horse, but comically ends in a failure rather than a success. Its Portuguese name is also Presente de Grego, which means "Gift from (a) Greek".

Plot[]

Cebolinha Cebola and Cascão Antenor are in some dark area, with only their faces shown. Cebolinha recounts how the Trojan horse story went: Greek soldiers hid in a hollow horse and the Trojans bring it inside. The Greeks win the war that night.

The boys continue hiding in the dark space, which is the interior of a giant blue stuffed bunny. Cebolinha then rings the doorbell and pops back in. Mónica Souza is having her birthday party during this time, but she hears the ringing and brings the bunny inside, thinking Ricky sent it. When Mónica sets the bunny down, the boys get hurt, but Magali believes that that is because the bunny is the kind that talks when squeezed.

Magali and Mónica leave the bunny to play, so the boys shift to make their way to get Sansão. Cascão mistimes a jump and the boys fly at the cupcakes.

Mr. Souza arrives for his magic show, and the party-goers come to see his magic act. However, by the time Mr. Souza starts, Cebolinha and Cascão accidentally cause Mónica's father's tricks to go wrong. The boys start fighting and blow their cover.

An enraged Mónica then chases the boys out of her house. Cascão laments that that was not how the Trojan Horse story (though referred to as the "Trojan Doggy" story due to an error) went as Mónica offers to give the boys their present (which is no doubt another Conejada).

Trivia[]

  • This is the second time Cebolinha tries to crash Mónica Souza's birthday, following Must Bring Doll/Come to my Party!
  • This episode is one of the few episodes to have the title changed. In this case, it was originally called Presente de Grego, which means "Gift from a Greek", but changed to "A Greek's Gift" (Presente Greguis/Presente Gregósio). Other episodes whose title changed include Must Bring Doll from Venga á Minha Festinha (Come to my Party) and A Cartoon Duel from Deulo em Quadrinhos (Duel in comics).

Errors[]

  • When Cascão mistimes his jumps during their attempts to shift their disguise towards Sansão, Cebolinha and Cascão should have just fallen short and landed on their side, but instead fly at the cupcakes, destroying every cupcake.
    • This physics oversight also occurs when the boys are fighting over which one of them will tie Sansão's ears, as the bunny should have just been undulating but not moving much, but instead bounces throughout the room chaotically.
  • Brazilian Portuguese version; Possible: Mónica should have said "Presente Vocéiom" during her "Get back here, you two! I want to return your present" line, but said "Presente de Vocés" instead. It might be possible she meant "Present from you", however.
    • This is averted in the Portugal-based versions, though Mónica uses the reflexive genitive Vosso.
  • Plothole: Cascão erroneously calls the "Trojan Horse" the "Trojan Doggy" despite having heard it as "Trojan Horse" so many times. Cebolinha takes note of this.
