He is a children's icon, a kind of parody to Winnie the Pooh, along with the Care Bears, Hello Kitty, Keroppi and other children's icons. He delights girls and boys, although the latter usually pretend to hate him so as not to be ashamed of sharing a girly taste.
He spawned a number of merchandise such as dolls, movies, cartoons, comic books, books, manuals, amusement parks, tattoos, figurines, photo albums and toys.

- Its Brazilian name may be a reference to the slang "bilu bilu", which means "cute", very common in Brazil.
