Frédipo da Silva is a recurring villain who had his first appearance in the story O Sumiço de Todas as Mães in 1990.
Background[]
Since he was born Frédipo was always a boy very spoiled by his mother who always defended his appearance saying that he was a beautiful boy. When he was 3 years old he went with his mother to a store sale where he accidentally got lost from his mother. Since then Frédipo has had to take care of himself alone in the middle of the streets, being bullied by older boys who called him ugly and suffering from it because he no longer has his mother to defend him.
As he grew up in an unknown way Frédipo got enough technology to create his own army of robots and live in a secret base inside a cave. With that he planned to start his plan of revenge by kidnapping all the mothers in the world as revenge for what happened in his past.
Frédipo starts his plan by kidnapping all mothers in Limoeiro. In the middle of these kidnappings he ends up kidnapping Monica and Maggy who disguised themselves and tried to stop his plan. Frédipo at first manages to defeat them using his giant super robot Super-Mãe, but he is later with the help of Monica is reunited with his real mother who was among the kidnapped mothers. After having reunited with his mother Frédipo is forced by his mother to give up his plan to kidnap all mothers in the world and is punished by his own mother.
Personality[]
Frédipo is a boy who although being a intellectual evil genius capable of building machines and robots has an immature behavior acting like a spoiled baby who still uses a pacifier and drinks milk from a bottle. He is also characterized by hating when they call him ugly, having been pampered by his mother in the past who considered him the most beautiful boy. He has so much respect and love for his mother that he wants to swear revenge on everyone in the world just for losing his mother in the past. Because of this he is also characterized as selfish and insane.

Frédipo wears huge glasses, has a long and thin nose, small ears with earholes (different from the other Monica's Gang characters), has a huge mouth with teeth that appear out of his mouth, is paunchy and has red and bald hair (similar to a clown's hair). He wears a crown on his head, wears a purple tunic, white pants and red shoes (blue in the animation). Sometimes he also appears with a pacifier in his mouth.
Trivia[]
- His name is a reference to Oedipus, which in Portuguese is "Édipo". Silva is a common surname in Brazil.
- Frédipo's design resembles a little Iggy Koopa of the Mario series, although this is just a coincidence, as Mario characters including the Koopalings were not very popular in 1990.
- It is mentioned in the comic that Frédipo has siblings, but this is not mentioned in the animation.
- He is one of the rare scientific villains who is a prodigy child (like Franklin) instead of a adult.
- Frédipo had his last appearance in 2011 in the story Tô na História published in Clássicos do Cinema - Turma da Mônica #29. The story is a parody of the first 3 Toy Story films, he plays a villain who is a parody of Al McWhiggin. This is also his first reappearance since his introduction in 1990.
