Irmão Cascão (lit. Brother Smudge) is the title of a story originally published in Cascão #359 (Globo series) in 2000. The story was later adapted into a cartoon episode in 2004.
The story was written by Paulo Back.
Plot[]
The story begins with Jimmy Five strolling with Mary Angela (who is crying) in her stroller. Jimmy Five is irritated that his mother forced him to go for a walk with Mary Angela until he saw two brothers very united making Jimmy Five jealous of wanting to have a brother his age instead of a baby sister.
Jimmy Five returns Mary Angela home (after she got her diaper dirty) and when he leaves he meets Smudge (after accidentally being hit in the head by a ball kicked by him) who is playing alone. Jimmy Five then has the idea of asking Smudge to be his brother and Smudge accepts the proposal. The two start playing football, but Smudge accidentally kicks the ball into Jimmy Five's face again. Smudge decides to forget the game and takes Jimmy Five to buy ice cream, Jimmy Five likes the idea until Smudge reveals he was broke and making Jimmy Five have to pay for ice cream.
The two return to Jimmy Five's house to watch TV, Jimmy Five says he wants to watch Ursinho Bilu, but Smudge arrives first and turns on the TV on Capitão Pitoco's show. Jimmy Five gets angry that Smudge did not turn on the TV on the Ursinho Bilu's show and Smudge responds to him saying that Ursinho Bilu is for babies. Jimmy Five then takes a bowl of donuts and decides to watch TV with Smudge, but Smudge looks at the donuts and decides to eat too, but Jimmy Five refuses to share his bowl and tells Smudge to go to the kitchen to get donuts. Jimmy Five realizes that Smudge is taking too long to return and finds that he went to his room to read his superhero comics. Jimmy Five tries to ban Smudge from reading his comics, but Smudge convinces Jimmy Five to share them with him since they are brothers.
Mrs. Five appears and calls them to dinner, Smudge arrives at the table first taking the place of Jimmy Five eating with his forks and his cup, and then burps in Jimmy Five's face, leaving Jimmy Five jealous for having been imitated. Jimmy Five then tries to redeem himself with Mary Angela thinking that she is no longer as irritating as he thought, but Mary Angela begins to pay more attention to Smudge than to him making Jimmy Five even more jealous. Mr. Five then comes home from work, Jimmy Five tries to receive him, but Smudge passes in front of Jimmy Five considering Mr. Five as his father too and receiving attention from him. Mrs. Five appears and reveals that Smudge will be sleeping at their house (after calling his mom) and places a mattress on the floor next to Jimmy Five's bed. Smudge then appears wearing Jimmy Five's pajamas and reveals that also used his toothbrush, making him even more angry. When Jimmy Five arrives in the room he finds that Smudge occupied his bed forcing him to sleep in the mattress on the floor. When they start to sleep Smudge starts to snore disturbing Jimmy Five's sleep.
The next morning Jimmy Five wakes up to find that Smudge had taken the blanket from him in the middle of the night. He finds out that Smudge has already woken up and is playing with Mary Angela. Jimmy Five (jealously) tries to talk to Smudge, but Smudge realizes that Jimmy Five misses his sister and realizes that he never needed to have him as a brother and says goodbye to Jimmy Five again being just friends. In the end while Jimmy Five goes for a walk with Mary Angela, Smudge looks at them and says that Jimmy Five will always be his brother at heart.

Animated episode[]

Title card
In 2004 the story was adapted into a episode in the animated film Cine Gibi, that was fist movie of the Cine Gibi series. This episode, like many others this season, uses traditional animation with backgrounds made by Mauro Souza. This episode has been heavily altered, with many changes from the comics, for example:
- The colors of Mary Angela's clothes are different, in addition to not having a sparkle in the eyes. The stroller is also different.
- Jimmy Five appears sitting on a bench instead of walking around pushing the stroller.
- Sidewalks, walls, streets and goalposts appear in the backgrounds.
- Jimmy Five puts a pacifier in Mary Angela's mouth, which she then throws at Jimmy Five's nose. In the comic Mary Angela already has a pacifier, but inside the stroller. The pacifier also has a different color.
- Jimmy Five's nose swells after Mary Angela throws the pacifier at him.
- Unlike the comic book, Jimmy Five does not imagine swearing (censored as a star, thumbtack, lightning...) when Mary Angela laughs at him after throwing the pacifier in his nose.
- The two brothers that appear in the story have extremely different designs, being practically twins and wearing the same clothes.
- Mary Angela farts in the moment she gets her diaper dirty. In the comic she just talks to Jimmy Five.
- Mrs. Five's hair and clothes are different. Jimmy Five's house also looks different.
- Smudge's ball is a soccer ball. In the comic book is a generic white ball.
- During Jimmy Five's proposal for Smudge to be his brother, Smudge asks him to share his Capitão Pitoco cards. In the comic the cards are of "Poquemão" (a parody of Pokémon).
- When Jimmy Five is hit by the ball in the face for the second time he gets the ball mark on his face. In the comic he has some broken teeth.
- The ice creams they buy are popsicles instead of ice cream cones.
- The design of the ice cream man is extremely different.
- There is a extra scene showing Capitão Pitoco's show in the TV.
- Smudge appears watching TV sitting on a bean bag instead of standing.
- The color of the donut bowl is white instead of red. The bowl is also bigger.
- Jimmy Five (apparently) finishes eating all the donuts before going to his room to find Smudge.
- Jimmy Five's comics are of Ursinho Bilu instead of being superhero comics.
- Mrs. Five calls Jimmy Five and Smudge to dinner without going to Jimmy Five's room.
- Jimmy Five's forks and cup are of Ursinho Bilu.
- Smudge plays piggyback with Mary Angela. In the comic they play of "Titanique" (a parody of Titanic)
- Mr. Five's clothes are different.
- Mrs. Five appears holding and hanging up the phone the moment she says she just called Smudge's mother asking him to sleep with Jimmy Five.
- Jimmy Five's pajamas (which Smudge wears) have different colors. Jimmy Five is also not shown to have another pajamas sleeping only in his underwear.
- Jimmy Five's toothbrush appears damaged after Smudge used it.
- When Jimmy Five lies on the bed unaware that Smudge is also lying there Smudge pulls the blanket up and then uses it to push Jimmy Five out of bed. In the comic Jimmy Five just jumps scared out of bed after seeing Smudge sleeping in it.
- The dialogue in which Jimmy Five says that Smudge took his blanket in the middle of the night does not occur.
- Jimmy Five puts on his clothes after waking up. In the comic he keeps on his pajamas when he goes to talk to Smudge.
- The dialogue in which Smudge is playing Zurro's (a parody of Zorro) white horse while playing piggyback with Mary Angela does not occur.
- The ending is changed (with Jimmy Five staying at home instead of going for a walk with Mary Angela) where after Smudge says he still considers Jimmy Five to be his brother at heart, Jimmy Five (inside his house and looking at Smudge) says the same saying "you in your house and me in mine".
Trivia[]

Mouth error
- In the comic there is a error showing Smudge speaking with his mouth closed in one of the scenes.
- In the comic the story is presented as "Cebolinha e Cascão em" (lit. "Jimmy Five and Smudge in"), but the animated episode is presented only as "Cebolinha em", this being due to the stories during the Cine Gibi era featuring only one character as the protagonist.
- This is one of the rare stories in which Smudge mentions not liking Ursinho Bilu. However, in the animated version he appears reading a Ursinho Bilu comic showing a certain hypocrisy after saying he doesn't like the character.
- In the animated version Jimmy Five is showing being much more a fan of Ursinho Bilu than in the comic having comic books, forks and a cup of the character.
- All references to pop culture (Pokémon, Titanic and Zorro) have been removed in the animated version for unknown reasons.
- In the Monica's Gang (Fake Tabornian Dub), the extra scene of Capitao Pitoco got deleted.
