Milena is a recent recurring character in Monica's Gang. The original idea was that she and her family were from Salvador, Bahia and was introduced by Mauricio de Sousa for the first time in 2007, as a request for inclusion of more African-Brazilian characters in the comics, since before her introduction, the only African-Brazilian fixed character that existed in the comics (not including characters from Pelezinho and Ronaldinho Gaúcho comics) was Jeremiah.
The character had her definitive introduction in the comics, as of Turma da Mônica #45 (second Panini series) in January 2019.
Family[]
Milena is a 7-year-old girl who is the middle child in her family, consisting of her older sister Sam, her younger brother Bertie, her father, and her mother who is a veterinarian. Milena was introduced to the comics as one of Monica's friends, just like Maggy, Denise and Marina, and often appears in the comics alongside the others.
Appearance[]
Milena is dark-skinned and has frizzy, curly black hair. She wears yellow earrings, pink hairbow, a puff-sleeved pink shirt, short orange overalls, and pink shoes with colorful laces.
Trivia[]
- Milena appears as one of the protagonists in Turma Da Mônica - Geração 12, being present since the first issue.
- Her introduction generated a controversy among some fans due to her lack of personality, as well as the fact that since her creation at MSP has forced her appearances in all media, much more than other secondary characters, sometimes even making her look as important as Monica, Jimmy Five, Smudge and Maggy.
