Milena Sustenido, commonly known as Milena is a lead character in Monica and Friends. The original idea was that she and her family were from Salvador, Bahia and was introduced by Mauricio de Sousa for the first time in 2007, as a request for inclusion of more African-Brazilian characters in the comics, since before her introduction, the only African-Brazilian fixed character that existed in the comics (not including characters from Pelezinho and Ronaldinho Gaúcho comics) was Jeremiah.
The character had her definitive introduction in the comics, as of Turma da Mônica #45 (second Panini series) in January 2019.
Family[]
Milena is a 7-year-old girl who is the middle child in her family, consisting of her older sister Sam, her younger brother Bertie, her father, and her mother who is a veterinarian. Milena was introduced to the comics as one of Monica's close friends, and like Maggy, Denise and Marina, she often appears in the comics revolving around the core cast.

Milena has dark skin and medium-length curly black hair. She wears yellow earrings and a pink hairbow. Her outfit consists of a puff-sleeved pink shirt, short orange overalls, and pink shoes with multicolored laces.
