Mr. Antenor or Mr. Araújo. called Seu Antenor Araújo in Portuguese, is Smudge's dad. He is married to Mrs. Lurdinha, Smudge's mom. His first appearance was in 1977, on Monica #89 (Abril).
Character[]
Mr. Antenor is a dedicated man who works to support his family. It's not clear what he works at, but in some comics he's unemployed and tries to get a job.
Since the end of the 90s, Antenor has appeared more frequently, sometimes being one of the pprotagonists (usually in comics written by Emerson Abreu). In current stories he is characterized as a goofy and sensitive father, often shown to be more immature than his own son, which usually makes Smudge ashamed of him.
He is good friends with the other dads from the gang and is also Captain Fray's brother, as stated in many comics. He loves soccer and the real life Brazilian soccer team Corinthians, which he always roots for.
Appearance[]
Just like Mr. Five, Antenor looks like an adult version of his own son, with the exception of having a mustache and not having smudges on his cheeks (although he used to have them until the 80s). He wears a white shirt (although in most stories the shirt changes color) and wears black pants and social shoes (which appear to be mixed because of the color). On rare occasions when he is relaxing at home he appears wearing shorts and slippers.
Trivia[]
- Antenor together with his wife used to be dirty just like their son until the 80s. After the 80s, the smudges on their cheeks disappeared, and they started being more hygienic and also to dislike Smudge's dirtiness, always trying to force him into taking a bath.
